Who should Attend

This update is for nurses, doctors, paramedics, pharmacists and allied health professionals who want to update their knowledge around management of challenging behaviour and medical conditions in people with learning disabilities in the community and care homes.

Session Aims

This session will explore learning disabilities, common associated medical conditions and management of challenging behaviour in community settings.

Session ObjectivesAt the end of this session you will:

  • Update knowledge of what is defined as a learning disability, especially in older persons.
  • Recognise common medical conditions such as kidney problems and identify appropriate resources available to support management strategies.
  • Have an opportunity to discuss common concerns through interactive participation and questioning of lecturers who are specialists in each area.
