Course Description

The Multiple Sclerosis in Older Adults: Assessment and Management course is specifically designed to provide healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively assess and manage multiple sclerosis (MS) in older adults. As the population ages, the prevalence of MS among older adults is increasing, presenting unique challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and care.

Course Aims

This course focuses on understanding the complexities of MS in the context of aging, including age-related considerations, comorbidities, and the impact on overall health and well-being.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the unique challenges and considerations in diagnosing MS in older adults.
  2. Recognise the specific clinical presentations and manifestations of MS in older adults.
  3. Identify and manage age-related comorbidities and complications in older adults with MS.
  4. Have an overview of treatment plans for older adults with multiple sclerosis, considering the benefits and risks of disease-modifying therapies and symptom management strategies.
  5. Coordinate care and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in the management of MS in older adults.
