Course summary
This course offers a practical exploration of physical examination techniques essential for healthcare professionals. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, aiming to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care. Suitable for pharmacists and those undertaking the prescribing course and wish to develop their physical examination skills. Suitable to be undertaken before the Minor Illness course.

To equip registered healthcare professionals with comprehensive skills and knowledge necessary for conducting thorough and effective physical examinations.

- Heart inspection, palpation, and auscultation.
- Identification of common cardiac conditions.
- Respiratory System Examination
- Inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation of lungs.
- Recognising normal and abnormal respiratory sounds.
- Abdominal Examination
- Techniques for inspecting, palpating, and auscultating the abdomen.
- Identifying signs of abdominal pathologies.
- Neurological Examination
- Assessment of cranial nerves, motor and sensory systems, and reflexes.
- Identifying neurological deficits.
- ENT and Eye Examination
- Examination of the eye, nose, throat, and ears
- Formulating differential diagnoses.
