Additionally, they will learn the correct application of slings, splints, and other immobilisation techniques to enhance patient care in both emergency and urgent care settings.
Who Should Attend:
- Nurses, paramedics, and healthcare professionals working in emergency departments, urgent care centres, or minor injury units.
- General practitioners and community practitioners involved in acute injury care.
- Junior doctors and advanced nurse practitioners who wish to enhance their practical skills in plastering and suturing.
Aims:
- To provide practical training in upper and lower limb plastering techniques for various injuries.
- To develop competence in basic suturing and alternative wound closure techniques such as the use of glue and staples.

Prerequisites:
This course is focused on teaching the principles of applying plaster casts, sutures, wound closure methods, and immobilization devices. It is important to note that the workshop does not confer clinical competency.
Delegates must:
- Have a mentor in their clinical practice to oversee their progress and sign off on a competency document.
- Be prepared to undergo a period of supervised practice following the course, during which they will refine their skills and demonstrate competency under the guidance of a qualified clinical mentor.
This ensures that participants receive ongoing support and supervision as they work toward achieving full clinical competence in plastering, suturing, and immobilisation techniques.
Additional Information:
- Course materials and certificates will be available at the registration desk.
- CPD points: This event is accredited and delegates will earn 6 CPD points for attendance.
- Networking opportunities: Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to network with peers, discuss key topics, and explore potential collaborations.
This programme is designed to ensure delegates gain practical insights, engage in interactive discussions, and leave with actionable strategies to improve urgent care practices in their settings.
