Who is this course for:

 All nurses and midwives who have trained outside of the European Economic Area (EAA) and want to work in the UK must gain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Who teaches on the course

This course is delivered by university lectures, doctors and nurses who work in the clinical environment. They have experience teaching pre  and post registration nurses and will use simulation equipment to prepare nurses to work in clinical environments in the UK.

Course Aims

  • To equip and prepare candidates wit the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to pass the OSCE  a requirement  which is Part 2  of the TEST OF COMPETENCE based on criteria set by the NMC.

  • To develop candidates skills in using a holistic approach using history taking and communication skills.


  • vital signs

  • calculating drug dosages

  • intramuscular and subcutaneous injections

  • basic life support – cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (adult, child, baby)

  • safe disposal of sharps

  • medication administration

  • peak flows

  • wound care

  • urinary catheterisation

  • hand hygiene

  • Communication skills and history taking skills

  • Engaging patients in care

  • Patient advocacy and concordance

Assessment : MOCK OSCE on Day 5

 6 OSCE stations

15 minutes each with 5 minutes prep time

4 scenario based stations

2 practical stations
