This practical, case-based conference is designed for clinicians who assess children and young people in primary care, urgent treatment centres, walk-in services, emergency departments and out-of-hours settings.
The morning programme focuses on recognising and managing common paediatric illnesses, while the afternoon is dedicated to the assessment and management of paediatric injuries, including concussion.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the conference, delegates will be able to:
- Conduct a structured assessment of the acutely unwell or injured child.
- Apply the paediatric assessment triangle and ABCDE approach.
- Recognise age-specific normal and abnormal physiological parameters.
- Identify red flags associated with common paediatric illnesses.
- Assess and manage common paediatric injuries safely.
- Recognise, assess and provide appropriate advice for paediatric concussion.
- Deliver effective safety-netting advice to parents and carers.
- Identify when escalation, safeguarding intervention or referral is required.
