Course Overview
This hands-on, practical course equips healthcare professionals with essential life-saving skills to recognise and manage cardiac arrest and medical emergencies in both adults and children.
Delegates will learn and practise:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Recovery Position
-
Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) ventilation

Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Recognition and management of anaphylaxis
This session is fully aligned with the Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and CQC emergency preparednessrequirements.
Aims
-
Enable participants to confidently perform Adult and Paediatric BLS.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this practical session, participants will be able to:

Demonstrate the DRSABCD approach and initiate CPR according to RCUK guidance.

Safely position an unconscious patient in the recovery position.
-
Deliver effective chest compressions and rescue breaths using adult and child manikins.
-
Use a bag-valve-mask (BVM) for assisted ventilation.
-
Operate an AED safely in both adult and paediatric modes.
-
Recognise and treat anaphylaxis, administering IM adrenaline safely.
-
Communicate and escalate emergencies effectively within the clinical team.
