This practical course is designed for experienced nurses and ACPs who wish to develop the skills in wound care and wound closure procedures.

The course combines an evidence-based update in wound assessment, preparation, suturing and alternative closure techniques.

Wound Assessment & Management

• Structured assessment of acute wounds

Suturing & Wound Closure

• Wound-edge approximation and eversion
• Tissue adhesive
• Wound-closure strips
• Staples
• Dressing, aftercare and safety-netting

Teaching Clinical Skills

Practical Training

A significant proportion of the day is dedicated to hands-on practical training. Participants will rotate through practical stations, taking turns as the trainer, learner and assessor. This provides an opportunity not only to practise wound-closure techniques but also to develop the skills required to teach those procedures effectively.
